    Ok, you’ve made it this far. Only a few more weeks before kids go back to school, bedtimes return to normal, and parents and sometimes grandparents sigh with relief and maybe a tinge of sadness that that the summer holidays are almost over. For their part though, kids still have high hopes of cramming in a few more adventures, a few more fun-filled days, before the reality of back-to-school sets in. In these waning days of summer, why not let the children in your life get in on the action by helping to plan the next excursion or adventure? We’ve made it easy for you—and them—by highlighting some of the Peninsula’s best options for kids:

    • Bowling at Miracle Lanes
    • Skateboarding, sand volley ball and the children’s playground at Tulista Park
    • Playing in the splash park, or enjoying a game of basketball or tennis at Iroquois Park
    • Taking in a film at Star Cinema
    • Picking out a toy at Buddies Toys
    • Skim boarding at Sidney Spit (regular ferry service with Alpine Ferry)

    Explore Nature:

    • Visit local Orcas and other wildlife with Sidney Whale Watching
    • Rent a kayak or paddleboard from Blue Dog Kayaking or Pacifica Paddle to explore on your own or with a guided tour
    • Seek out hidden treasures at Glass Beach on the Sidney waterfront
    • Look for seals, river otters and birds off Bevan Pier

    Sweet End-of-Summer Activities:

    Bite into a home-made cookie or other treat from one of Sidney’s outstanding cafés orgrocery stores—and don’t forget Sidney Bakery’s awesome donuts and other delights.
